Freelance Fashion Designer & Product Developer – Palestine Production
Location: Ramallah / Palestine
Type: Freelance, project-based
Language: Arabic and English required
Organisation: The Tatreez Collective
The Tatreez Collective is a cultural and social enterprise dedicated to preserving, teaching, and reimagining Palestinian tatreez embroidery. Through workshops, products, research, and artisan collaborations, we work to keep Palestinian embroidery traditions alive while creating meaningful employment opportunities for women artisans in Palestine.
We are developing our product line and working with tailors and embroiderers in Palestine to create high-quality clothing and textile pieces for international markets.
We are looking for a creative, practical, and detail-oriented Freelance Fashion Designer & Product Developer to support our production work in Palestine.
This role is not only about creating beautiful designs. We need someone who understands clothing construction, fabrics, patterns, tailoring, and quality control. The right person will help us translate our brand vision into pieces that can be produced locally while meeting the expectations of international customers.
Responsibilities include:
Designing clothing items in line with The Tatreez Collective’s identity, Palestinian embroidery heritage, and international market expectations.
Creating clear patterns and production instructions for our tailor.
Explaining designs to the tailor and answering technical questions during production.
Supervising the sample-making process and suggesting corrections when needed.
Sourcing suitable fabrics from local markets in Ramallah and surrounding areas.
Prioritising high-quality fabrics, especially natural or low-polyester fabrics where possible.
Documenting fabric options, including supplier, price, width, colour options, fabric feel, drape, transparency, and known composition if available.
Checking fit, finishing, stitching, fabric choice, and overall quality.
Carrying out quality control before items are approved for production or sale.
Communicating clearly with The Tatreez Collective team in Arabic and English.
Working respectfully and collaboratively with tailors and artisans.
We are looking for someone with:
A background or strong interest in fashion design, garment construction, tailoring, or product development.
Pattern-making skills, or the willingness and ability to develop them further.
Good understanding of fabrics, fit, finishing, and garment quality.
Ability to work with tailors or small production teams.
Ability to source fabrics locally and assess whether they are suitable for specific designs.
Practical thinking, attention to detail, and good communication skills.
Ability to communicate in both Arabic and English.
Interest in Palestinian heritage, embroidery, craft, and ethical production.
Respect for artisan knowledge and collaborative working methods.
Ability to work independently on a freelance/project basis.
We are open to students, graduates, and self-taught designers.
This is a freelance, project-based role, not a full-time position. We will begin with one trial project after reviewing applications and approving a suitable candidate. The trial project will be fully paid, with the fee, scope, and timeline agreed in advance.
If the collaboration works well, there may be opportunities to work on more items and future collections. Payment will be agreed per item or per project, depending on the scope of work.
To apply, please send:
